Fenerbahce Bids for Ronaldo


Deep pocket Fenerbahce has bid a reported $4 million Euro to sign the Brazilian striker at this January's transfer window. Ronaldo would reunite with ex-Real teammate and follow Brazilian Roberto Carlos at Fenerbahce. Ronaldo's fitness issues continue to discourage other clubs from making a serious bid on the World Cup MVP.

Duilio Davino Says Goodbye to America


Duilio Davino attended his last practice for the Aguilas only to say goodbye. Davino and club president have decided to end there professional relationship. Davino has spent 10 years with Club America, making a total of 303 appearances. Rumors are circulating that the defender may end up with FC Dallas.

Super Sunday Results

Arsenal jumps atop the Premier League table with a win against Chelsea. Petr Cech's error resulted in the only goal of the game, which gave Arsenal the win.

English captain John Terry left the game in the first half after being kicked in the foot. Reports now say that Terry has suffered three broken bones in his foot and is now sidelined for up to six weeks.

Manchester United defeated Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, which propels United to second place just a point behind Arsenal.

FIFA Club World Cup action ended with AC Milan defeating Boca Juniors 4-2. Urawa Red Diamonds placed 3rd after defeating Etoile Sahel in pk's.

Wake Forest rallied to defeat Ohio State 2-1, and won the NCAA Championship.

MLS Seattle passes 10,000 in Season Tickets



Seattlepi.com reports that the MLS Seattle team has now surpassed 10,000 season ticket deposits. The team requires a $50 deposit but has yet to announce any official price.

No Veron for DC United



After months of speculation and even a proposed contract, Juan Sebastian Veron will not join DC United. DC United offered Veron a deal which would have paid him almost $4 million annually. Veron was set to leave Argentina and arrive in DC for an announcement. Veron could not say goodbye to his teammates and fans, and has opted to stay with Estudiantes.

"My teammates' request for me to stay was very important. And I couldn't ignore the fans' affection. It is impossible not to be touched when you are an Estudiantes fan."

Nery Castillo To Manchester City?



After choosing to sign with Shakthar Donetsk instead of Manchester City this past summer, Sven Goran Eriksson may finally get his man.

Nery Castillo is rumored to be transferred to Manchester City this January since falling out of favor with Shakthar Donetsk. Reports indicate that it's Castillo's attitude well others state that it's financial reasons.

Castillo had scored 30 goals for Greek team Olympiacos, but has yet to score for Shakthar Donetsk.

MLS Back to Miami?



Miami Today reports that league officials have been in discussions to build a soccer specific stadium, near the now abandon Orange Bowl stadium site. This soccer specific stadium would neighbor next to the future home of the Florida Marlins, and may seat around 18,000 - 27,000.

In other MLS news...

Kansas City MO, City Council has approved the funding necessary to build a 18,5000 soccer specific stadium for the Kansas City Wizards. State-level tax incentives are they last obstacle before building begins.

Boswell to Houston, Wells to DC


DC United appears to have fixed its goalkeeper situation.

Today the Houston Dynamo traded GK Zach Wells and a 2009 MLS Superdraft selection, for DC United defender Bobby Boswell.

Wells who was a backup keeper for Pat Onstad will probably get the starting job, since Troy Perkins is most likely on his way to Europe. Story Here.

Manchester City After Diego


Real Zaragoza star Diego Milito will be pursed this upcoming transfer period by EPL team Manchester City. Deigo has 40 goals in 80 appearances for Zaragoza and could cost Manchester City as much as $35 million Euros. Story Here.

No Club World Cup for Ronaldo



Injury prone Ronaldo has been ruled out of action for FIFA Club World Cup competition. Early this week Ronaldo was optimistic about being able to play in some capacity, but the Brazilian striker still struggles with fitness issues. AC Milan faces host club Urawa Red Diamonds in semi final action this coming Thursday.

Injury Alert!



Valencia striker David Villa will be sidelined for this weekend's match against Barcelona. Villa was injured this past Tuesday against Chelsea in Champions League play. It was later revealed that Villa had suffered a tear in his thigh muscle. Valencia is currently 10 points out of first place in La Liga.

Semi Finals Set for Club World Cup



Urawa Red Diamonds took care of Sepahan to advance to the semi-finals and will now face Italian powerhouse AC Milan. Preview.

On the other side of the bracket. Etoile Sportive du Sahel surprised Mexican club Pachuca to advance, and will now face Boca Juniors in semi-final action. Preview.

Kahn Suspended 1 Game by Coach



Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has been suspended 1 game and fined $36,500 by head coach Ottmar Hitzfeld. SI reports that it was Kahn's early departure from a club Christmas party. Kahn will not play against Hertha Berlin this coming Saturday.

FC Dallas Brings Back Ruiz, But No To Denilson



FC Dallas supporter blog 3rd Degree, reports that FC Dallas has accepted the contract option for Carlos Ruiz, but has declined Brazilian Denilson's contact option. Carlos Ruiz has been "grandfathered" to be an exception to the MLS DP rule and will not count as the clubs DP for the upcoming season. Denilson was a big disappointment for the FC Dallas last season, only scoring 1 goal in 8 appearances. FC Dallas will be open to bring back Denilson but at a lower pay rate.

RBNY to Hire Osorio



ESPN.com's Ives Galacrep reports that RBNY has come to an agreement with Chicago Fire coach Juan Carlos Osorio. Osorio took over the failing Chicago Fire last July and lead them to a Eastern Conference final. RBNY was also interested in Chivas USA head coach Preki as well as US National assistant coach Peter Nowak. The Chicago Fire has won 1 MLS cup and 4 Open Cups since it's inaugural 1998 season.

Kikin to Chivas Guadalajara?

MLS Seattle Sells Over 9,500 Season Ticket Deposits



Seattle's 2009 yet-to-be-named MLS franchise has sold over 9,500 season ticket deposits. Seattlepi.com reports that 3,000 of those deposits came in on the first 24 hours of the official news. MLSinSeattle.com has ended there fan name suggestion contest, leaving many to wonder if the franchise will adopt the "Sounders" name?

UEFA to Investigate Liverpool Thrashing on Besiktas



German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung has claimed that there was a pattern of unusual "high scoring" bets made before the Liverpool/Besiktas Champions League game. Liverpool defeated Besiktas 8-0 during that Champions League game, which has now prompted UEFA to investigate the allegations.

Ronaldinho's agent/brother has denied that an agreement has been struck between Chelsea and the Brazilian star. The deal was reportedly worth 10 million Euro per year. Ronaldinho is under contract with Barca until 2010.

Champions League Recap




AC Milan defeats Celtic 1-0 today as Filippo Inzaghi becomes the all-time scoring leader in European competitions. Inzaghi was left unmarked and put away an easy pass by Cafu. AC Milan wins Group D as Celtic also advances into the next round, because of Benefica's 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk. Celtic needed a win or a draw/lost with a Shakhtar Donetsk defeat. Champions League action resumes Wednesday to finish the First Phase round.



Ruud Versus Frank Round 1



Jaime Cardenas at Korner Pocket reports that the Los Angeles Galaxy will open there 2008 season on the road against Colorado, but will hold its home opener against San Jose Earthquakes Thursday April 3rd, live on ESPN.

Add New England Revolution To Shevy Sweepstakes



According to John Cross of UK's Mirror, the New England Revolution are also interested in Shevchenko. Since Beckham has been a success money wise in LA, it should be no problem for Robert Kraft to spend the big bucks.

Corinthians Relegated



One of Brazil's most popular clubs and winner of the 2000 FIFA Club World Cup has been relegated. The club finished the season with 44 points in 38 games, and will join Juventude, Parana, and America Natal into Brazil's Serie B.

Ronaldo Doubles Against Fulham

Ronaldo scores twice to give Man U its 10th win of season and keeps Fulham winless on the road. Manchester United is now in second place just 3 points behind undefeated Arsenal, and will play Derby at Old Trafford this coming Saturday. Fulham currently has 13 points and has only won twice this season, both of those wins have come at home. Fulham will play Everton this coming Saturday.






San Jose to Open Against NYRB



According to Soccer By Ives, the New York Red Bull will open it's 2008 season campaign on the road against the returning San Jose Earthquakes. MLS has yet released the official 2008 schedule.

Mourinho or Klinsman for England Job?





Germany head coach Joachim Low backs Jurgen Klinsman, as rumors continue to point to former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho.

FIFA World Club Cup Starts This Friday




FIFA World Club Cup begins this friday with a playoff match between Sepahan and Waitakere United this Friday December 7th on FSC (2:30pm pacific Delayed). All matches will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel, and will included UEFA Champions League winner AC Milan, CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores champion Boca Juniors, CONCACAF Champions Cup winner Pachucha, CAF Champions Etoile Sportive du Sahel, and AFC Champs Urawa Red Diamonds. The tournament will be held in Japan and end December 16th at International Stadium Yokohama.

Henry will be out for at least three more weeks due to a back injury.

Barca faces Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga, Sttugart in Champions League play, and then Valencia in another La Liga match.

Also hurt this past week is Glasgow Rangers and American National DeMarcus Beasley. Beasley who damaged knee ligaments will need surgery and is likely out for the rest of the Rangers 2007/08 campaign. Which also means no US National team play.
